GPT Pro-tip 👾

They care about what it does for them. And I don't mean “benefits”.

What you’re looking for 📍

  • Words they use over and over.
  • Emotional triggers (leaving the house without makeup and feeling good about it, having the best run of my life, my clothes fitting me perfectly, my style reflects the real me, etc.)
  • Phrases that signal identity and aspiration.

This is EXACTLY the type of work we do together in the Creating Forward Incubator

→ Brand marketing vocabulary
→ Product positioning
→ Content system foundation

"It's like I know what I want to say with my brand, but I can't figure out how to say it in a way that sticks with people."

“I truly believe in the potential of our brand, and I want to build a community that does too. But it's hard to know if I'm just shouting into the void or if my message is resonating.”

“I want to make sure that our messaging is tight and that we’re reaching the right people, but I’m not confident in how to do that.”

“The market already feels crowded—what’s going to make this stand out?”

My answer?

See the difference?

If you’re pre-launch or pivoting:
  • Look at reviews from similar brands.
  • Run a quick poll with your target community.
  • Scroll the comment section of brands in your space.

“How does the results of having this product make my customer feel?”

Your customer doesn’t care about the product.

Start selling what it does for people.
If you’ve been “talking about your brand” but not seeing traction—this might be why.

You’re probably describing the product.
What it’s made of. Where it’s from. How many pockets it has.

Product-based vs. Outcome-based Marketing 🧴

STEP 1: Get to know your customer like a BFF

What do they want to be true in their life?
What do they hope your product unlocks for them?

STEP 2: Speak in their words, not yours

How do they talk about those goals, emotions, frustrations?
Pull copy straight from their mouths—not your marketing deck.

Here’s how to make this shift 🎯

STEP 3: Ask yourself the only question that matters
Aggregate the insights. Screenshot, copy/paste, drop them into a Google Doc or Notion board. Then start analyzing.
  • Look at reviews, support messages, DM conversations, comment threads.
  • Send a quick survey.
  • Ask in stories: “How did it feel to try X for the first time?”.
